Gonzalo Moreno Marquez, Juan

My name is Juan Gonzalo Moreno Marquez. I am an expert in the identification of human remains, with certifications in forensic entomology, forensic soil science, and geospatial forensics. Forensic Biology, Forensic Anthropology among other academic qualifications, my wife and I began the search for our son Kevin Moreno Ana, in March 2022, he was deprived of his liberty in Mexicali, our city, on the border of Mexico and the United States, In 2022 we began our career as trackers, you can search for us on the internet and find data about us and our fight to find missing people on the border, based on what we saw and knowing that there is no scientific method to search for clandestine burials, we decided to explore and build a method with scientific attachment what is called Forensic Geo-Tracking which works in the Air with the support of Drones and on the Ground with the Support of K9 Corpse Tracker Binomials, we created the Missing Persons Search and Investigation Cell A.C a non-profit Civil Association, we do not charge for our services, until now we have been a little more than 85 Positive Findings in different stages, all bodies or remains buried and just over a hundred positive findings of superficial human remains. In 2024, we integrated Flako, our tracking dog specialized in corpses, and together the drone and K9 this method was formed.
We know it’s difficult and complex, but we firmly believe our method could be helpful in the search for missing persons in the United States.
Class: K9 Units and Drones: The Synergy of Forensic Geo-Tracking 5.0
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
Demonstrate how the K9 Unit, integrated into the Forensic Geo-Tracking 5.0 methodology, becomes a top- tier technical–operational agent supported by remote sensors, artificial intelligence, and geospatial analysis, resulting in faster, safer, more precise searches with greater evidentiary value
Section 1. The Evolving Role of the K9 in Forensic Search Operations
Duration: 20 minutes
Topics to Develop
• From traditional tracker to specialized technical agent within Forensic Geo-Tracking 5.0.
• Differences between traditional reactive work vs. proactive work guided by geospatial analysis.
• Operational advantages: reduced search areas, decreased canine fatigue, 90–95% accuracy through AOI prioritization.
• How the K9 benefits from prior analysis: micro-topography, chromatic spectra, altered vegetation, NDVI/VARI, thermal anomalies.
• The “New K9 Doctrine”:
– Directed tactical entries
– Controlled sweeps
– Targeted validation of anomalies detected by dron
Section 2. Sensors, Platforms, and Operational Synergy: K9 + Drones Duration: 30 minutes
Topics to Develop
• Drones as the K9’s “advance eyes”:
– RGB UAV
– Multispectral thermal systems
– 3D Models / DEM
– Vegetation anomaly detection
• How the K9 interprets previously analyzed terrain.
• Building Areas of Interest (AOIs) to guide canine routes: – Polygon design
– Density calculation
– Restriction of sterile zones
• The GEO–K9–GEO operational cycle:
- Remote detection
- Geospatial prioritization
- Guided K9 intervention
4. Technical verification and closure
• Typical cases where the K9 increases drone effectiveness: – Dense terrain
– Moist clay soils
– Early exposure of remains (less than 12 months)
BREAK – 20 MINUTES
(Water, team hydration, review of operational notes)
Block 3. Tactical Procedures and Forensic GEO-K9 Protocols Duration: 30 minutes
Topics to Develop
• Designing the GEO-K9 operation:
– Entry
– Sectorization
– Route mapping
– Canine exposure times
• Adapting international protocols to Mexico:
– Chain of custody
– Section for preliminary findings
– Operational map
• Technical documentation reinforced by the K9:
– Primary alert logs
– UTM coordinates of the marking point
– Thermal + canine integration
• Forensic integration:
– How the K9 gains evidentiary value
– Relationship between canine marking and geophysical evidence • Creation of the GEO-K9 Report, standard of the 5.0 Model.
Block 4. Ethics, Human Rights, and Real GEO-K9 Case Studies Duration: 20 minutes
Topics to Develop
• Protection of the dog and handler’s well-being.
• Respect for families and victims in contexts of violence.
• The importance of science-based searches rather than intuition-driven actions. • Presentation of real (adapted) cases:
– How a K9 validated AOIs generated by NDVI and micro-topography.
– Situations where the drone detected no signal, but the K9 alerted.
– Cases where both aligned (high-probability findings).
Final Session: Questions, Operational Analysis, and Recommendations
Duration: 20 minutes
Key Points
• How to immediately integrate the GEO-K9 5.0 Model into collectives, prosecutors’ offices, and K9 units. • Common errors and how to avoid them.
• Recommendations for certification, cross-training, and drone flights prior to K9 deployment. • Formation of hybrid teams:
– Geospatial analyst
– UAV pilot
– K9 Unit
– Scene coordinator
EXPECTED OUTCOMES OF THE CONFERENCE
By the end of the session, attendees will understand:
✓ How the K9 takes on a central, technical—not secondary—role.
✓ How to apply drone + K9 synergy for faster, more precise, and safer searches. ✓ How to produce GEO-K9 reports with scientific and evidentiary value.
✓ How to integrate the 5.0 methodology into official and civilian search units. ✓ How to transform ground searches into data-driven technical operations.
