K-9 fundraiser scheduled for Saturday
The Ellwood City Sons of Italy is the place to be for a Saturday night fundraiser benefiting police K-9s and service dogs.
The 5:30 to 10 p.m. fundraiser will include a cash bash and horse races in support of Never Walk Alone, a local nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds that directly support K-9s and Veteran Service Dogs in Lawrence and Beaver counties.
Tickets are $25 and have a chance to win every 15 minutes with $2,775 in giveaways. The evening includes gift baskets, food and non-alcoholic beverages. Alcohol can be purchased at the bar.
“We hope you’ll join us for an exciting evening that truly makes a difference,” said event organizer Joe Reed, owner of Reed’s Services Pet & Livestock Feed & Supplies.
“Let’s come together to ensure our heroes, both two-legged and four-legged, are supported.”
Ellwood City Police Department K-9 officer Richard Kruger said Never Walk Alone enabled the Ellwood City K-9 program to continue when the program was going to be abandoned when the K-9 officer retired. Reed contacted the borough and offered to raise the money. With fundraisers like the annual Dog Days of Summer in Ewing Park, the organization raised over $60,000. The money enabled them to purchase K-9 Niko and pay for the six weeks of training for Krueger.
In December 2025, Never Walk Alone supplied all of K-9s in Lawrence and Beaver counties with a unit of Vetigel, a plant-based, all-natural gel that stops bleeding in seconds.
Through fundraisers, the community makes it possible for Never Walk Alone to provide K-9s and service dogs with the resources they need.
Tickets are available at Reed’s Services Pet & Livestock Feed & Supplies at 1312 Woodside Ave in the borough. Sponsorships are also available.
Additional donations such as gift baskets, gift cards, food and monetary contributions are also appreciated.
