Kalamazoo man faces felony drug, gun charges after 2 men rob him

KALAMAZOO, MI — Police are seeking two armed men who assaulted a homeowner Saturday, who himself was arrested for drugs and weapons charges.

According to a release from the Kalamazoo Department of Public Safety, at 7:12 p.m. on Dec. 23, officers responded to a report of an armed robbery in the 1100 block of Hays Park. Two suspects entered the home and assaulted a resident with a handgun, police said.

One of the suspects then fired a round inside the home, police said. The suspects fled from the residence on foot.

Police attempted to track the suspects with a K-9 unit, but it was unsuccessful.

As the incident was investigated Saturday, it became clear to police that the homeowner was targeted by the suspects. Officers received a search warrant, which yielded cocaine and a handgun.

The man who had been assaulted during the home invasion is facing several felony charges. Officers said the man is facing charges of possession with intent to deliver cocaine, felony firearm, felon in possession of a firearm and maintaining a drug house.

The suspects where described by police as black men wearing dark clothing and standing between 6-foot-4-inches and 6-foot-6-inches tall.

Police did not specify if any items were stolen from the home.
