Kyle PD launches K-9 program

The Kyle Police Department has announced the launch of its first-ever K-9 program with the addition of K-9 Atlas, a major milestone in the department’s commitment to public safety and community service.

Atlas and his handler, Officer McClaran, have completed extensive professional training and are certified in narcotics detection and search operations, providing officers with a powerful new resource to help locate missing persons and remove dangerous drugs from the streets.

“This is an exciting time for the Kyle Police Department and our community,” said Chief of Police Dr. Jeff Barnett. “The K-9 program reflects our continued dedication to incorporating resources that keep everyone safe while building stronger bonds with the community.”

K-9 teams are an invaluable asset in law enforcement, providing specialized skills that strengthen emergency response and investigative efforts. The department looks forward to introducing Atlas and Officer McClaran to the community at upcoming events and demonstrations.
