Service dogs are most frequently deployed to search for children who have become lost or run away from home, elderly people who have lost their way in the forest, individuals with memory impairments, and people requiring constant care due to their health condition.
One such case involved the search for a boy with Asperger’s syndrome in the Khmelnytskyi region. In September 2025, a service dog named Archie found the child under a tree in a marshy area after a three-kilometer search, effectively saving his life.
Throughout 2025, the dog Archie carried out 32 deployments and located six minors. Such searches are often conducted in forests, in marshy terrain, or in situations where every hour can be critical to saving a child.
Service dogs are also deployed to search for explosives, weapons, and narcotics, assist in solving crimes, and provide psycho-emotional support to veterans and children.
